Generator Shutdown Procedure for Oil Check AFTER 24 hours of Run Time:

  1. Shut down the generator by switching off the main breaker. (located under lid or on side of generator)

  2. Even though the generator continues to run, the power supply to the house will cease. Let the generator run in this condition for 2 minutes to cool down.

  3. After the cooling period, turn off the generator using either the red OFF button or move the black rocker switch to the middle position.

  4. Allow the generator to rest for about 5 minutes before proceeding to check the oil level.

  5. Check the oil condition - it should be clear and maintained at the designated level. If the oil level is below the fill line, make sure to top it up until it reaches the required level. Do NOT overfill as this could cause issues with the functioning of the generator.

  6. If the oil appears murky, it might be time for an oil change. For guidance on the correct oil quantity, reach out to Boudreaux's Electrical Services at 985-397-1562 or refer to the owner's manual.

To restart the generator after checking the oil, follow these steps:

1. Begin by starting the generator either by pushing the GREEN AUTO button or by switching the BLACK rocker to the AUTO position.

2. Let the generator run in this manner for 2 minutes to ensure it has ample time to warm up.

3. After the 2 minutes have passed, switch the main breaker to the ON position to restore power to your home.

Whether you opt for the GREEN AUTO button or the BLACK rocker switch, confirming the oil levels and following this sequence will help maintain a seamless power supply.

Resetting Alarms:

Alarms should always be approached with caution and should only be reset once the underlying issue has been identified and resolved. It is essential to address the root cause of the alarm before attempting to reset it. If uncertainty lingers, it is advisable to reach out to us rather than resetting the alarm.

The procedure for resetting alarms involves fixing the initial problem that triggered the alarm, deactivating the alarm using the designated controls such as the RED OFF button or the BLACK rocker switch set to the OFF position, push the ENTER button if you used the BLACK rocker switch in the OFF position - skip to the next step, then finally place generator back in AUTO by pushing the GREEN button, or put the BLACK rocker switch to the AUTO position.
